Growing up in the 60s, I was exposed to a lot of wonderful animation. If you’ve been around this comic for very long at all, you know my love of Hanna Barbera cartoons. But, Jonny Quest is my all time favorite cartoon by HB. It was more “real life” and not as far fetched as a lot of their cartoons. Most of the cartoons that used a more realistic human character drawings (unlike cartoons like the Flintstones or Yogi Bear), Jonny Quest was one the average kid could relate to. Today, the cartoon The Venture Brothers pays homage to Jonny Quest in a really hip way.
Anyway, I decided to do a new desktop featuring the Jonny Quest gang sitting around with Bud. Bud will get drunk or high and hallucinate Hanna Barbera characters with him and today, it’s the Jonny Quest gang, including the evil Dr. Zin (not to be confused with Invader Zim). You can download them by clicking on the S, M or L in the small Calendar on the left side of the comic, or click the links below. Either way, enjoy!

goodness, this is awesome. now we need a dukes of hazzard comic.
In the words of Tom Petty, oh my my, oh hell yes!
Bud and Jeff are TOTALLY Bo and Luke
For me, Dukes was never about Daisy or the Duke boys, but THE CAR. Oh my God I LOVE ’69 Chargers. My all time favorite muscle car of that era. Petty and that blue winged Charger is forever etched in my memory banks.
Nearly bought a General Lee a number of years ago. Those cars are the kind you can roll up your sleeves and work on. Setting the timing, the spark gap to boring out the cylinders. Oh yeah, gots to gets me one of those babies one day..
So, for me to draw up a DoH desktop, it’d be focused on the car… but I’ll give some thought to a sexy Bo, Luke, Daisy and “extra” (gotta get Robyn in the scene). OH… Robyn will be working on the engine… a Cooter with hooters so to speak…
Ohh-kayyy…’a Cooter with hooters’ is totally phrase!of!the!day!
I agree with you about The General. Bo was cute (BTW I somehow got my Duke brothers backwards in my comment above – Jeff has *got* to be Bo-the-blond-one), Daisy was hawt, but THE CAR was most of the reason I ever watched DoH.
I have an endless soft spot for The General. And also BTW for Dave Starsky’s Torino. Ah, those were the days…
Johnny Quest iz t3h 4\/\/3s0m3! One of my favorites from back in the daze … love that you went old school with it, and the mechanical spider-orbs are so perfectly iconic! Only thing missing is one of the creepy frogmen!
For DoH (if someone were to go there) … M’thinks it would need to be predecessed by the gals having a drunken, muddy cat-fight for who gets to play Daisy. Or, perhaps a contest to see who could out-short-shorts Daisy Duke cutoffs … 8-D~
Ah, a l33t fan I see… Us crazy old farts aren’t too behind the times, so I get bonus points for recognizing it!
Yes, Jonny was the best. I have the DVD collection and pull it out from time to time to watch the shows. Amazing detail and soundtrack for a 60s cartoon. I so wanted to get a frogman into the shot, but it was getting crowded, so I went with Zin instead.
I think I have an idea for a DoH desktop that will make everyone happy… soon!
Been hanging in t3h ‘Nets for just about 20 years now, could even make a case for a tad over. Picked up some slang or 3 following http://www.megatokyo.com/ to round out my l33tz upgrades as I age so ungracefully …
That’s just awesome! It is going to replace Doctor Who as my work desktop!
Hey, when 1977 takes center stage over a Dr. Who desktop, I’m honored!
