Let’s Make A Dope Deal!

I have had a form of this comic written for about 2 years now.  In it’s earliest form, Cheech & Chong were at Bud & Jeff’s front door trying to get them to buy tickets to their concert… and failed.  Now that they’re in L.A. it seemed time for the most renown stoners to make an appearance in 1977.  Fun to draw them too!

“Let’s Make A Dope Deal” is from 1972’s “Big Bambu” album of Cheech & Chong.  “Sister Mary Elephant” was a single from this album and still cracks me up to this day!  My 12 year old loves it too, so it seems Cheech & Chong have many generations left in their comedy yet.  As long as there are stoners, there will be a Cheech & Chong.

A really cool guest comic is coming your way next week (or sometime this month for sure) and I’ll give you hints to that later.  Oh, the shopping spree got put off as I decided to do Sex (Monday) , Drugs (today) & Rock and Roll (Friday) theme this week.  It is what 1977 is all about!

See you Friday.  I’ll be on the road all day Friday as I head to Dallas.  Come on out to the show all you Texas readers and bring me some cans of Mountain Dew while you’re at it… I’ll need it after driving 14 hours on Friday!  See you all there! Rock on …

:)

    CLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!

    then’kyu.

    :D

you know, they purposely clipped the hell out of that part of SME for shock value and they managed to reproduce that same nasty clipping digitally for the cd release…

    ralph & herbie. awesome. :D

    –dee!

Yes, in this digital age it’s hard to get good distortion. The old analog stuff just went crazy and you’d get all types of fun stuff. Today, it sounds like a tin can. I miss the fat sound of tube amplifiers and the rich low-ends that analog provided. Digital is just too thin for me… I like my sound fat… like my women…

That would be the best show ever! Take two and pass, my friend. :)

Love the Cheech and Chong. Hope you do more 70’s Celebrities. Maybe the gang can end up on the Love boat. Charo!!!!

    • Byron says:

Yeah, I want to attack the Love Boat for sure… such a sappy show but ripe for comedy. Where would Charo be without the Love Boat “cuchi-cuchi”!!

Wow, keep your nose clean in Dallas. It’s a shithole (as is all of Texas except Austin and South Padre) and remember you are in Texas. “He needed killin’” is grounds for justifiable homicide.

I frequent Texas a lot as a great friend of mine lives in Houston. I don’t mind Texas at all, but then I’m part redneck and them’s my people down thar…

Most of Texas is desert, so not too thrilling. But the major cities are a blast. Houston has the best strip clubs ANYWHERE. So check them out!

I have just rented Cheech and Chong “Up in Smoke” after reading this :) Yeaaaaaah! :)

    Great strip as usual dude!

Fun movie! I like their albums better as it left the visuals to your imagination, but I still enjoyed their movies too. They made TEN all together. Man, ten?!

Y’know, I was in a comix shop a couple of years ago and they were selling Cheech & Chong ‘action figures’. I was almost tempted to buy some, to see if ‘action’ meant ‘press the hidden button and they roll a joint’ :P :P :P

    free concert tickets? bonus!

  11. Nate Fakes says:

    That’s a tough loss there! I’m guessing it’s Bob Marley tickets? Well – that’s just a hunch.

    • Byron says:

Marley smoked joints the size of hoagie sandwiches, man. Freakin’ huge… I’d smoke one or two “normal” joints and be quite happy indeed. Now Marley could party…

No, try guessing again which concert it is… ;)

In ‘77… could be Elvis Presley, but I’m not sure if Cheech and Chong would be as likely to have Presly tix as they would Iron Butterfly, Steely Dan, (or other metals) Deep Purple or Pink Floyd. (Or other colors.)

However, for comedy value, I’d say Van Halen. ‘77 was the year they got signed, and I’d love to watch how the girls deal with a young David Lee Roth.

    • Byron says:

Well, son of a bitch… sssshhh!! on the Van Halen idea… I’m already working on that… you’ll see it soon enough! You D&D folks have a 6th sense don’t you…
      :)

      • Kevin says:

Take it as a compliment! I wouldn’t have guessed if you didn’t do such a great job on characterizations. Halen’s story dovetails nicely with where our heroes are right now, and a David Lee Roth/Gene Simmons/Lorraine triangle story would be awesome.
