Never doubt an old fart rocker…
1977 is gonna launch to not one but TWO comic conventions in August! Rock me, baby! So pack up your stuff and grab a ride to Chicago Comic Con on August 11th through the 14th and come see me at Table 3732! As usual, bring me a can of Mountain Dew and get yourself a free commission! Bud and the gang have the right idea, except Jeff, as the can has to be unopened! Eww!
You can find out all the details about guest and schedules for the Comic Con by clicking this link! I’m stuck at my table the whole time, but you can come see a ton of some Sci-Fi and TV greats!
I’ll be not only selling 1977 books and stuff, but will also be there to sell the “Webcomics: What’s Cooking?” cookbook. This cookbook has 50 recipes with accompanying comic by some great webcomic artists (including me!). The book is only $15 and proceeds go to the national food banks as we raise money to make Thanksgiving this year a bit brighter for some families in these tough times. Can’t come to the Con? Order your copy online and help us out meet our goal of raising $15,000 for the food bank!
I’ll be at Fan Expo in Toronto (yeah, Canada, man) from August 25th to the 28th. You Canadian readers put your hockey sticks and beer down long enough to come get yourself a commission! Hey, do they sell Mountain Dew in Canada? If not I’m “importing” my own stash… I’ll be with my good friend Antoine Gagnon of “The Drunken Fools” comic so you can come by and give him some beer money (and then he can buy me dinner).
Did you know the Cars have a new album out? This song rocks nicely. It’s that great old Cars sound so I picked up the album right away. Check it out!
******************************

Yeah!, Cars!! Thanks for the new tune, Byron! I’ve been wantin to pick this up since I first heard “Sad Song” awhile back, but haven’t gotten around to it & also haven’t heard anything else from the new album. I miss Benjamin Orr, but I think it’s cool they’re soldiering on w/out him, & they haven’t missed a beat despite the 25+ year lay-off.
Wish I could get up there for the Comic Con & to check out Chi-town. never spent any time in Chicago, just a drive thru it once many moons ago, a white-knuckle ride down I-90 during PM rush hour…
Your welcome on the Cars tune… it’s a good album and worth the money IMO. Yes, we’ll all miss Benjamin Orr, especially since he played bass. Keyboardist does the bass lines now, so it’s cool they didn’t replace him too.
I-90 during rush hour is no place for a sane person… which is why I *refuse* to commute to a job. Life is to short to spend 10 to 14 hours a week just sitting in my car. I’ve got NASCAR to watch and models to build… let alone all the pizza and beer to consume!
You gotta get your self some throw back man if you need Mountain Dew.
Tried the Throwback and it nearly did get thrown back… I don’t remember Mtn Dew tasting like that… but then again it’s been a long time since I’ve had the “original” recipe. But I’ve been drinking Mtn Dew from the day it was introduced back in the 60s… “Yahoo! Mountain Dew!” We rednecks were thrilled.
Jeff can open my Mountain Dew any time!
The lads look great in their updated incarnations. I only hope Lorraine is deliberately pursing her lips – or whistling? – because her mouth in the above image is waaay too small for some of the things we all *know* she can do with it…muhahahaha…
See? We’re all back!
I have never had a good hairstyle for Robyn and I think I’ve finally got it right. I was also getting tired of Lorraine having bangs, so I parted her hair. I was going to give Robyn a new top, but damn, I like the one she has and it fits her well. Lorraine has the miracle button on her blouse as always. And yes, she’s puckering up her lips, covering up that nice wide mouth she normally has.
The guys are pretty much unchanged. In long shots, Bud will have simple eyes, but in close ups I’ll toss in more detail. I’ve grown tired of having Jeff’s hair in his eyes as in certain angles, it just didn’t make sense not to see his eyes. So, the sunglasses are a nice touch, and in character as stoners often wore glasses non stop to cover up the glazed over eyes.
Rock and roll, man! I’m back…
Heh, I think we hit the culture gap there – when I said ‘the lads look great’, that means all four of them! Our ‘lads’ is the equal of your ‘guys’, i.e. a non-gendered plural
IM GLAD YOU’RE BACK! high five! hope your wife is doing alright
My friends in Canada told me years ago that Mountain Dew sold there has no caffeine (for the same dumb reasons we have a limit to the amount of alcohol in beer, pfft!) So, their Mtn Eeeeew is also a non-starter, and you’d be better off importing your own stash (not to mention “Stache!)
Glad to see you back, happy you like the new Cars album, but I especially hope that your wife is steadily improving!
