Inks and colors later on today.  Old fart just ran out of time.  This is why I want to stop twice a year and build up my buffer.  I hate waiting for the comics too you know!

I am working on a new venture for 2012 in my professional life.  It is too early to tell, but if it works out, then it may settle some things in my personal life.  2011 has been a sucky year, so I’m hoping for a better 2012.  It is what we make it sometimes, and I’m pushing for better.

Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “That Smell” has nothing to do with exploding gas tanks and vinyl pellets, but it still makes a great title for today’s comic.  Released in 1977, this is what Wikipedia has to say about the song: “Van Zant said, “I had a creepy feeling things were going against us, so I thought I’d write a morbid song (as a warning).” The lyrics cautioned that “tomorrow might not be here for you”, and that “the smell of death surrounds you”. Three days after the album was released, the band was devastated by a plane crash killing several members including Van Zant.”  It was a shocking time for me as I really liked the band and related to their Southern Rock roots big time.  A number of pop/rock personalities lost their lives in those old planes bands use to fly in (DC-3s to be exact).  The crash happened on October 3rd, 1977.
