The comic’s title is from ELP (Emerson, Lake & Palmer) and seemed to spell out the comic without giving too much away. Hard to find songs that reference getting a boner it seems… wonder why? 
Hey! The 4th of July is coming up! Crap, gotta buy some food for the ol’ cookout. No fireworks (well, legal ones that is) allowed in Illinois, so I make do with some sparklers and bottle rockets I bought in Indiana a couple years back.
PS: Oh yeah, the book… Bud’s reading “The Naked Ape” by Desmond Morris and was released in 1967 and was on the best seller’s list for a long time and was still in publication in 1977. I am not this smart, my good friend from Australia who is a fantastic editor suggested it to me. I didn’t even waste time thinkin’ of a title and asked her for a book title. In no time at all, BAM, this comes back in an email. Too cool to be that smart, or at least have that good of a memory!
